It is with great disappointment that we learned from Breda City Council that, due to a recent change in the subsidy scheme, we cannot claim a multi-year subsidy (2025-2028) in our own city. The crux lies in a new requirement imposed by the municipality in December 2023: applicants must be statutory based in the province of North Brabant by 1 January 2023, with retroactive effect. Although The100Hands has been based and working from Breda since 2017, we were founded 10 years ago in Amsterdam.
We deeply regret that the municipality is changing the rules in this way without assessing the impact on local companies, as more organisations are affected. Of course we keep in dialogue and reflect on follow-up steps, trusting that we can bring different perspectives together here as well.
